A few things to announce today!

First of all, Yuki Kajiura has confirmed on Twitter that she is in the progress of recording the second OST for Rekishi Hiwa Historia! No details on release date yet. The first soundtrack for the NHK show was released in August 2009 and is my favorite of her recent soundtracks so check it out if you haven’t already done so!

Next item on the list: A 2011 Kalafina CD Calendar is printing this month! We don’t normally make announcements on merchandise because most of them can only be bought at concerts or from space craft’s site (which doesn’t ship internationally), but this time it’s an exception because it can be purchased at CDJapan! The CD-sized mini-calendar has 12 months and the preorder deadline is December 6th. This is a good opportunity to order it together with Yuki Kajiura’s The Works for Soundtrack set for release on the 8th! You can get a 500-yen discount using the code winter2010 at checkout (for purchases over 3000 yen).

Now, onto Puella Magi Madoka Magica! As you may know, Yuki Kajiura will be composing the soundtrack for the magical girl anime. Its premiere been announced for January 6, 2011. Three more character trailers have been released and can be viewed here, here and here. In addition, there are unconfirmed rumors that Kalafina will be doing the opening theme, for release in February as a single titled Magia.

Sony via a flyer has revealed the tracklisting of the upcoming Kalafina DVD and Blu-ray release. As you will notice, unfortunately the performance of Kagayaku sora no shijima ni wa with Yuki Kajiura on piano didn’t end up in the tracklist :(.

According to Anime New Network (as confirmed by the anime’s official site ) Yuki Kajiura is going to score the music for a magical girl type anime called Puella Magi Madoka Magica! This is the first time she works on a purely mahou shoujo anime, so we can expect a different style of music from her :).

Today, Yuki Kajiura’s blog sidebar announced an unexpected, but long awaited release :). The release is called “The Works for Soundtrack”. It will contain some tracks released with symbolic meaning, but will mostly be previously unreleased music that are getting released for the first time on CD. 😀

The contents of the release are selected by Yuki Kajiura herself 🙂
