Title:
The Sea of Twilight”

Kanji Romaji English
Tasogare no umi ni dete
Futari wa nido to mou meguri
Aenai no
Sailing out into the sea of twilight,
The two of us shall never again
Cross paths…
Kin no akari ga umi ni ochite
Natsu no kaze ga togireta
Obieru futaru ni tada
Yosete kaesu mizuoto
A golden light falls into the sea;
The wind has paused.
The two of us, frightened,
Hear only the light crashing of water.
Nani o shinjite koko made kita
Michi mo wasure hateta no
Sayonara tsugeru tame no
Yasashisa dake nokoshite
I’ve forgotten my path completely,
What I believed in to make it this far;
Only enough kindness to say goodbye
Have I been left with.
Donna ni nami o kasanete
Omoide o sakende mo
Anata no ita kishibe ni wa
Mou kaerenai
No matter how many waves crash down
As I cry out to my memories,
I can’t ever return to the shore
You were on.
Tasogare dake o daite
Ano hi no nami wa mou fukai
Umi no soko
Kanashimi o shiranai
Aoi yume o mite nemutte iru
With only the twilight in their embrace,
The waves of days past are already deep
At the ocean’s bottom,
Knowing no sadness,
Dreaming blue dreams, fast asleep.
Kurai mizu no mukou ni yureru
Shiranai machi no akari
Totemo chikaku ni mieta
Mahoroba no hana no koro
The light of an unknown town
Flickered beyond the dark waters
Back when the flowers of paradise
Seemed so very close.
Ano toki mou hitotsu dake
Tooi nami o koetaru
Anata no iru kishibe made
Tadori tsuita no
If I had crossed over one final
Distant wave at that time,
Would I have reached the shore
You were on?
Tasogare no umi ni dete
Futari wa nido to mou meguri
Aenai no
Sabishii manazashi o
Kasanete nemutta yoru mo kiete
Sailing out into the sea of twilight,
The two of us shall never again
Cross paths,
And the nights of falling asleep
Looking into your lonesome eyes will disappear.
Tasogare dake o daite
Ano hi no nami wa mou fukai
Umi no soko
Kanashimi o shiranai
Aoi yume o mite nemutte iru
Tasogare no umi ni dete
Futari wa nido to mou meguri
Aenai no
Sabishii manazashi o
Kasanete nemutta yoru mo kiete
With only the twilight in their embrace,
The waves of days past are already deep
At the ocean’s bottom,
Knowing no sadness,
Dreaming blue dreams, fast asleep.
Sailing out into the sea of twilight,
The two of us shall never again
Cross paths,
And the nights of falling asleep
Looking into your lonesome eyes will disappear.

    Awesome song

I love Chiaki’s voice so much

  3. Thorn-Mage says:

I’m only familiar with the TV Edit version so far, but wow–Ishikawa-san just knocks it out of the park! Looking forward to finding the full-blown version.

Now that I’ve heard the full-length version, there is no doubt in my mind: this is one of Kajiura-sensei’s very best, with stunning vocals by Ishikawa-san. The opening passage is often repeated, but never gets tired–proof that like Mike Oldfield, Kajiura understands repitition’s power if what’s being repeated is worthwhile. And that ending, building until we get to Konno-san’s violin, is just amazing! Given the lyrical content, letting this song fade out rather than giving us a solid end is just as well. Proof that ‘Dream Field’ is an amazing must-have album.

  5. Listening to this after hearing the Dream Field 2019 Live announcement and once again, this song is probably one of the most epic tracks ever in See-Saw whole discography. The drum kicks are so good I can tootally drunk-dance to this song forever

  6. TRal55 says:

^ Wow, a Mike Oldfield reference on a Yuki Kajiura webpage. One of my favorite songs, Far Country, is by Mike Oldfield :]

Speaking of repetition, I think the only way the repetition works is because Yuki keeps changing what’s being repeated, changing the lyrics to “la la” and then mixing the lyrics with “la la” and then adding violin, so that it’s not pure repetition, it stays fresh with every iteration. I hate when songs repeat the exact same thing without trying to change/add anything from the last chorus. I want songs to leave me wanting more, not to kill what made them good until I’m sick of them 😛

  7. george1234 says:

Hm ? You re the one who menthioned Mike Oldfield, why you react as if its in the lyrics ?

  8. Kerahna says:

They’re remarking on the fact that one of the previous commenter mentioned how like Mike Oldfield, repetitive segments never get old!

  9. TRal55 says:

Yeah it’s literally one of the comments above mine. If you’re going to act like a Know it All, maybe read before you post? Sorry to be a jerk, but you really do act like a Know it All

  10. george1234 says:

Know it alls dont make question but statements 😛 I made question.
