New Kalafina Single: sprinter/ARIA

Posted , Updated

Thanks to Neo for posting this in the shoutbox!

Earlier, we announced that ARIA would be the theme to the fourth Kara no Kyoukai film, and released on a single with the fifth theme. It was announced today that the fifth theme is called sprinter, which will also be the title of the single. The new Kalafina members – Maya and Hikaru, will participate in the vocals in addition to Keiko and Wakana.

Kalafina – sprinter
Release Date: July 30, 2008
Catalog Number: SECL-669
MSRP: 1,575 JPY

Tracklisting
:

  1. sprinter – Theme for Kara no Kyoukai 5
  2. ARIA – Theme for Kara no Kyoukai 4
  3. oblivious (Instrumental)

The Limited Edition of the single will come with an “illustrated wide cap (?)” of Kara no Kyoukai I think that is a sticker, which is what happened last time they used that term…, a poster, and two postcards. It will also come with a DVD with videos for sprinter and oblivious, although they are apparently “ufotable edits”, which might mean the videos will be clips from the films rather than of the singers (Thanks to grunty for pointing that out).

More Information: Sony Music Shop (Japanese)

[EDIT] The above information is for the DVD Limited Edition of the single only; the regular edition’s catalog number will be SECL-671, and cost 1,223 JPY (same release date).

[EDIT EDIT] Sony just announced that the single will actually have “two A-sides” and be called [sprinter / ARIA] (rather than just sprinter, as previously stated.

Sand Dream + Studio Version of Sajin no Kanata e Previews

Posted , Updated

Thanks to grunty for posting this in the forum.

The King Records Sound Horizon page has posted samples of the two songs from Revo and Yuki Kajiura’s upcoming single – Dream Port.

The first track, Sajin no Kanata e is the main theme of Dream Port 2008, and was written by Revo and Yuki, then arranged by Revo. This preview version is the studio recording of the same song that was seen in the 1-minute concert video a few days ago.

The second track (not yet linked to on the page, but nonetheless accessible with a bit of cheating) is Sand Dream, an instrumental/chorus arrangement by Yuki Kajiura, of the same theme.

Thanks to Theo for posting this in the forum.
[EDIT] And by “Theo” I meant Kazado >_< I'm such a huge UKATSU....forgive me.... A new Interview 2:46 long has been posted on the King Records website. The two talk about their collaboration as well as their future solo works – Revo discusses the new Sound Horizon Story CD, Moira, and Yuki mentions Kalafina.

Those two are so cute.

Again, if anyone is able to translate this interview or at least tell us a summary of what they are saying, it would be extremely appreciated!

Dream Port Concert Clip – Sajin no Kanata e

Posted , Updated

Hi everyone, I have no idea on the context of this clip at the moment and I’m not sure what song it is. It doesn’t sound like it’s in the same song as the clip on the King Records main page, but it sounds new and was found on the King Records website, given to us again by atu. It’s got EVERYONE in it! <3 so I suspect that it is Sajin no Kanata e, because it is the only song that they performed that is new, and also the only one they all sing together. I wonder how the song connects this clip to the clip posted earlier?

55-second video:

Click Here to watch/download it from King Record’s site.
I’ll edit this post later hopefully with more information!

[UPDATE] I still have no idea what page this video is linked from.

Thanks to Neo for posting this news in the shoutbox!

The Kalafina website has updated, with un-darkened photos of the two new members, and plays a short preview clip of ARIA, the ending theme for the 4th Kara no Kyoukai film: Garan no Dou. Mouseovers of the members show full unveiled photos. The site has also added a link to the Kalafina blog, where it is revealed that in addition to the first two members (Wakana Ootaki and Keiko Kubota, FictionJunction vocalists), there are two newly discovered vocalists named Maya and Hikaru, chosen from auditions with over 30,000 aspiring singers.
