Kanji Romaji English
小さな足音を
夢の中で聞いた
誰かが私の
ドアの前にやって来る
少年の眼差しの
懐かしい影が
あの頃みたいに
扉叩いている
chiisa na ashioto wo
yume no naka de kiita
dareka ga watashi no
doa no mae ni yattekuru
shounen no manazashi no
natsukashii kage ga
ano koro mitai ni
tobira tataiteru

i heard small footsteps
in my dreams
someone comes along
in front of my door
the nostalgic reflection of
a young boy’s look
is beating at my door
like in those days
遠い雨の街を
今も忘れない
貴方のバスを待った
遠回りの帰り道
哀しいサヨナラさえ
今は夢の中
つまらない冗談だと笑えるかしら
tooi ame no machi wo
ima mo wasurenai
anata no basu wo matta
toomawari no kaerimichi
kanashii sayonara sae
ima wa yume no naka
tsumaranai joudan da to waraeru kashira

even now, i won’t forget the
far town of rain
taking the long way home
i waited for your bus
now within my dreams
even with a sad farewell
i wonder if we can laugh
at a boring joke
土曜日の朝だから
訪ねて来たんでしょ?
朝靄のドアを開けて
入っておいでよ、早く・・・
doyoubi no asa dakara
tazunetekita’n desho?
asamoya no doa wo akete
haitteoide yo, hayaku…
you visited me because
it’s a saturday morning, right?
i open the door of the morning mist
come, get in,
hurry…
小さな足音が
夢の中に消えた
白い枕の上に
古い歌を残して
chiisa na ashioto ga
yume no naka ni kieta
shiroku makura no ue ni
furui uta wo nokoshite
small footsteps
disappeared within my dreams
i have left behind an old song
on top of a white pillow

  1. Elegy says:

Thanks for translation! I think it’s the most beautiful song in “Consolation”

  2. May says:

the kanji says ‘shiroi’ but why is it written shiroku?

  3. Cherish says:

i like this song sooooo much ! this is great !!

  4. Ophelia Arcana says:

Um, I thought “kage” means “shadow”. It’s in the first stanza. In the translation it says “reflection”, is it? Is shadow and reflection the same? Just curious.

  5. Amphetamine salts 15 mg says:

@Ophelia Arcana It’s funny because in Japanese “kage” means both “image” (as in something you can see with luminous definition) and “shadow” (as in the absence of light). “Kage” can also be interpreted as “mirage”, like something you see but you know it’s not there.
